Chaos Room

Memories of FireI remember it like yesterday. First came the thunderclap; a distant explosion that could be heard (I'm told) from halfway across the continent. That night, there was a sickly glow on the northern horizon. By the next day, the sky was filled with fire. It wasn't true fire, I was assured, nor even nuclear fire. I was far too young to understand nuclear fire, but I understood magic, and that's what everyone said this was. No one really believed in magic, of course but there it was, filling the sky with its ghastly, flickering purple-green. It lasted for about a week, during which day and night were meaningless.
